Supervisory Committee All credit unions are required by law to have a Supervisory Committee made up of 3 to 5 credit union members who serve as volunteers without any compensation. The Role of the Committee The primary responsibility of the Tri-Lakes Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee is to oversee all aspects of the credit union to determine that it is being managed soundly and that members' assets are being adequately safeguarded. The Committee ensures that the board of directors and credit union management meet required financial reporting objectives and that policy, practices and procedures are established and sufficient to protect members' assets. The Supervisory Committee does not have authority to make any financial policy for the credit union. The Committee engages an independent certified public accounting firm annually to perform an opinion audit that evaluates accounting controls, financial statements, and verification of members' accounts. Volunteering Be an active member of your credit union! Many members have made the credit union movement a lifelong personal interest. Being a credit union volunteer is an educational and rewarding experience. You can play an important role in securing your financial future and that of others! The Supervisory Committee is looking for volunteer members at this time. Please contact the main office in Saranac Lake or by mail at the address below. Contact the Committee Any member may contact a member of the Supervisory Committee directly if there is a need to surface an issue or report a complaint that has not been adequately addressed.
